OUR BACKGROUND & ETHOS

Eat Wild. Eat Sustainable. Eat Well.

All our venison is sourced by us from natural chalk grasslands over Wiltshire and Oxfordshire. Ask us where your venison came from, and we’ll be able to tell you when and from which field or wood. It’s important to us you have confidence in the provenance of your venison from field-to-fork and enjoy eating it as much as we have in taking care sourcing it for you.

We are certified & qualified as deer managers, and Food Standards Agency accredited.

All our wild venison is sourced by Simon. He takes great pleasure in personally serving much of it to his friends and family. However, as deer numbers have increased so too has the
requirement to more intensively manage populations, resulting in a surplus even
he can’t personally eat. So, Simon started Game On to show how accessible, delicious and versatile wild venison is.

Venison is a healthy sustainable low-carbon alternative to farmed red meats.

whats on offer?

Our source is wild and unpredictable and so too is our stock list! We work closely with landowners to maintain a sustainable population in line with seasonal deer availability subject to the UK Government Deer Act 1991.

Roe

Slender medium sized deer native to the UK. Often seen alone or in small herds. Does are in season until the end of March. Often seen out in the open or wandering wooded field edges before dawn & dusk.

A lovey versatile venison, packed with flavour, not overly 'gamey' and great for newcomers to venison.

Fallow

Medium/large deer native to the UK. Can vary from pale white to dark brown with spots. Form large herds, often hundreds, resting in woods during the day and feeding on farmed fields at night. Bucks in season until 30th Apr does until 31st March.

Provide lovely large steaks and joints of venison.

Muntjac

Small skittish deer native to Asia, the booming UK population originate from escapees from Woburn Abbey escapees in 1925. Often seen trotting along hedgerows and road verges browsing for tender leaves. In season year-round.

Tastiest of all – good things come in small packages!

Venison - nutritious & delicious

Low in fat

Wild venison is naturally leaner compared to farmed meats, making it a heart-healthy choice for those looking to reduce saturated fat intake.

Rich in Protein

It is an excellent source of high-quality, easily digestible protein, which is important for muscle growth, repair, and overall body function.

Packed with Essential Nutrients

Venison is a good source of vital vitamins and minerals, including:
Iron: It contains heme iron, which is more easily absorbed by the body than non-heme iron found in plant-based foods. This is beneficial for preventing iron deficiency anemia.
Zinc: Supports immune function, wound healing, and cell growth.
B Vitamins: Particularly B12, which is crucial for nerve function, energy production, and the creation of red blood cells.
Omega -3 Fatty Acids: Wild venison contains a higher level of
omega-3s compared to farmed meats, which are beneficial for heart health and reducing inflammation.

Sustainability

As a wild game meat, venison is typically more sustainable and has a lower
environmental impact compared to farmed livestock, which often involves high resource use and emissions.

Low Contaminant Risk

Wild venison is less likely to contain antibiotics or hormones, common in some
farmed meats.

Supports Weight Management

Due to its low-fat, high-protein profile, venison can help maintain satiety and promote weight loss or maintenance when included as part of a balanced diet.

Incorporating wild venison into your diet can offer a range of health benefits, from supporting heart health to improving nutrient intake, while also being an environmentally friendly option.
